My first post!

My first post!

My name is McKay (Macca will do) and I'm a Stay At Home Dad of 3 girls.

This stay at home business is all pretty new to me, I’ve had a lot of learning to do and fast! When my wife and I decided that I’d take over from her while she went back to work full time, I had no idea what I was in for. I searched the net for articles and blogs from a dads point of view that would be useful. I did find a few! There were lots from overseas, but I couldn’t find very many from a Kiwi Dad’s point of view. So, armed with all the knowledge of my 7th Form english class, here I am having a go! As this is my first time blogging, I’ll take my cues from others that I’ve read, and hope to evolve and create my own style as I go on!

A little bit of background

I was at my last company for 5 and a half years. I had moved out of a role I was very successful into one in which I thought I would be even more successful. In the end it didn’t work out, and we amicably parted ways. However, this gave me 10 weeks to find a new job! What’s more, my wife was due with twins in a weeks time. My wife and I talked, and decided to both look for jobs to double our chances. To make a long story short, she got an offer first! And about 10 weeks after the girls were born, she went back to work and I commenced being a stay at home dad.

What I want to achieve

I hope to put a kiwi guys point of view on being at home full-time. Starting with three girls under 2 was and continues to be a challenge, but I love it! I’ve made a lot of notes so far on my experiences and I hope that someone out there will be inspired, informed or entertained by what I write. I do however know that the net can be a pretty brutal and unforgiving place at times! What I write will be from my own opinions and experiences, and sometimes you may disagree with me. That’s OK! I love good healthy debate and I like when people have different points of view to me. All I ask is that you’re respectful.

That's it for now! I look forward to this new journey and hearing your feedback!
